The real running costs of an n8n workflow
Schedules are arithmetic; provider bills depend on actual plans and usage.
A downloaded workflow needs a runtime. Depending on your setup, costs may include a cloud plan or a maintained server, email transport and connected-service limits. Self-hosted does not mean administration and hosting cost nothing.
Count the scheduled runs
Over an illustrative 30-day month: a daily brief schedules 30 runs, a two-hour stock check 360, and each hourly scenario 720. The first-three starter bundle totals 1,110; all four total 1,830. These are schedule counts, not a pricing plan or measured benchmark.
Allow for work inside and outside a run
Manual tests, retries and error handlers may add executions. One execution can make many paginated API calls; variations can require extra reads. Check current provider limits and how your actual plan counts usage.
Choose an interval for the task
Halving an interval roughly doubles scheduled runs even when there are no new events. A useful slower digest may be the better fit. Enter your own actual costs in the free worksheet; blank cells mean unknown, not free.
