Why an order can sit in Processing, and when to check it

Use a review rule that matches your fulfilment process.

A Processing order is a useful operational signal, but it does not universally prove that goods have not shipped. Store plugins and fulfilment processes can leave the status unchanged after an action.

Choose an honest age basis

A review might flag a physical Processing order 72 hours after payment, using creation time as a clearly labelled fallback when paid time is missing. This is a configurable example, not a universal service commitment. date_modified does not mean “entered Processing”.

Do not miss old active orders

A check restricted to yesterday’s new orders can miss an older unresolved issue. Selection and reconciliation must include relevant active and previously tracked orders without treating an incomplete API page as resolution.

Review before changing money or status

Check the gateway and your real fulfilment record. A Failed order is not automatic authorisation to charge, refund or email a customer. The proposed queue is owner-only and makes no store writes.
